Passenger ferry damaged after hitting pier in Sweden Stockholm (AP): A Scandlines passenger ferry hit a pier in the Swedish port of Trelleborg late Saturday, leaving it with an 18-meter (60-foot) crack in its front, a company spokesman said.
All passengers were evacuated safely and no one was injured in the accident, which happened as a result of the stormy weather in southern Sweden, Scandlines spokesman Jens Henrik Nybo said. The ferry had arrived in Trelleborg from Rostock, Germany.
Nybo said the ferry is now anchored outside of Trelleborg and will be taken to the shipyard to be repaired on Monday.
``We have another ferry sailing on this route, but this will affect the schedules in the coming week,'' he said.
