Spectators can catch a glimpse of the fastest ferry in the world trying to smash records when WA shipbuilder Austal Ships holds sea trials off Cottesloe and Leighton beaches next Wednesday.
The 65m catamaran ferry Shinas, built for the Sultanate of Oman, has already topped 100kmh during record-breaking sea trials.
The $45 million WA-built passenger vessel achieved a one-way speed of 55.9 knots (103.5kmh), making it the fastest diesel-powered catamaran ferry in the world.
The vessel is preparing for one final sea trial, when it will attempt to better its world record speed.
It will leave Austal's Henderson shipyard at 9am, perform a helicopter landing simulation in Cockburn Sound, before a speed run off Leighton and Cottesloe about 10.15am.
Shinas will be visible from Leighton and Cottesloe beaches.
The ferry is one of two identical vessels built for the Sultanate of Oman.
