Sanctuary Cove International boat show booms

This year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show looks to beat 2005 exhibitor targets with more than 380 exhibitors confirmed for the May event.
The four-day event will offer the largest on water leisure and light commercial display ever staged in Australia.
Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show Manager Harry Davis said with more than 380 exhibitors confirmed by mid-March, the 2006 Show was on track to beat last year’s 383 exhibitor tally. Expanded marina and hardstand space mean visitors can walk along 3km of marina piers to view on-water exhibits.
‘Both power and sail boat enthusiasts will find exciting new models at the 2006 Show,’ said Mr Davis.
‘There’s a stunning line-up of offshore sportsfishing vessels with representation from Australian companies Precision, Riviera, Blackwatch, Pirate Yachts and Deep Vee Marine and leading imports including Viking, Bertram, Luhrs and Cabo Yachts,’ he said.
‘Bertram is releasing a 670 Convertible and its new 360 Express. The 360 was officially unveiled at Fort Lauderdale before its Australian debut at Sanctuary Cove. ‘
Catamarans are also prominent at this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. Australian companies include Lightwave, Perry, Tasman, Mutlihaven, Express Multihulls and Crusader Yachts. There’s a new release from Manta Catamaran in the US plus the latest from Fountaine Pajot and Catana.
European and US sail brands at Sanctuary Cove include Hanse, Hunter Yachts and Nimbus. Catalina Australia and Pacific Yacht Brokers brings six of the latest Catalinas including the 22 Sport, 250, 28 MKII, 320, 350 and 42 MKII. Sailing related products include Australian company Global Yachting Systems’ cutting edge furling booms and navigational systems from Navman.
Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show General Manager Barry Jenkins said international interest in the show remained high with anticipated business buyers from Taiwan, China, Thailand, Russia, the US, UK and New Zealand.
‘We have some great support from key government agencies including Austrade, the Queensland Department of State Development, Gold Coast City Council and Maritime Safety Queensland. So there’s a strong expectation that we’ll again have delegations from major trading centres around the world,’ said Mr Jenkins.
Confirmed Australian or international product releases include the Australian launch of the Mainship Pilot 34; the world launch of Vision Yachts’ 19m luxury power catamaran the Jutson 59; Australian launches of Ocean Alexander’s 45ft sports sedan and 48ft Europa and a major display of new models from Sea Ray (including 40 and 44 Sundancer, 36 Sedan Bridge, 290 Sundancer and new Boston Whaler models).
Streamlined park ‘n’ ride transport arrangements apply for Show entry. Sanctuary Cove , located in south-east Queensland at Australia’s leading integrated residential resort . Boat Show hours are 9am to 5pm daily. www.sanctuarycoveboatshow.com.au Sponsors include Channel 7, Creek to Coast, Trade a Boat, Classic Hits 4KQ, Queensland Government, The Gold Coast Bulletin, Maritime Safety Queensland, Gold Coast City Council and Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove.
