Int’l exhibition on shipbuilding, marine technology and transportation
02/21/2006 -- 17:38(GMT+7) Ha Noi (VNA) – Vietship 2006, the third international exhibition on shipbuilding, marine technology and transportation opened today in Ha Noi and runs through Feb. 24.
Leading shipyards, shipping lines, designers, suppliers of spare parts, equipment and service for vessels from Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (RoK) will introduce their latest products and services at 150 booths.
A seminar on the Vietnamese shipbuilding - marine industry will be held on Feb. 22 on the sidelines of the exhibition, which is jointly organised by the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin), the Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) and C.I.S. Vietnam Advertising & Exhibition Ltd.
The Vietnamese shipbuilding – marine industry has achieved an annual growth rate of 30 percent and has been able to build 100,000 DWT
(dead weight tonnage) – 250,000 DWT vessels and other kinds of tourism ships, oil-tankers, container liners, ships for sea transportation, military and rescue. The industry is striving to become a key exporting economic section of the economy with a localized rate of 60 percent by 2010.
The shipbuilding industry plans to attain 1 billion USD in revenue and 3 million DWT in capacity by 2010.-Enditem
