Third ferry heralds full service
A car ferry service which carries motorists between Devon and Cornwall was brought up to full strength on Saturday after months of work.
Local people have been angry at ferry service delays recently as work was carried out to improve the slipways.
The third and final new ferry, the Lynher II, has been undergoing trials for the past week and was added to the schedule on Saturday.
The new, bigger ferries can carry more vehicles from Plymouth to Torpoint.
The slipway work was beset with problems caused by strong winds and tides.
A tug had to be brought in to guide the ferries across the river and at times only one ferry was operation leading to long delays for commuters.
But managers are now hoping for an end to the problems, the new timetable has all three ferries on at peak periods, two during the day and evening and one overnight.
