Airbus orders two new ships as wing ferries Feb 2 2006 Daily Post IC NETWORK-NORTH WALES icnorthwales.icnetwork.co.uk/ TWO more ships are to be built to carry A380 superjumbo wings from Airbus's factory in Broughton to France for assembly of the huge passenger aircraft.
The new vessels are needed as Airbus increases production of the double-decker, 555-seat A380 which is due to go into service with its first customer later this year.
They will be used for the transportation of A380 sections from sites in Germany, Spain and France as well as north east Wales.
Singapore Technologies Marine will build the two new ships which together will cost about £41m.
The two vessels are due for delivery in 2008 and will join the existing A380 transport vessel, Ville de Bordeaux.
