(RTTNews) - Rolls Royce Holdings Plc (RYCEY.PK, RR.L) said it secured new contracts with a potential value of $650 million from Petrobras to support its production activities offshore Brazil.
Rolls-Royce stated that it will supply Petrobras with thirty-two RB211 gas turbine power generation packages, including waste-heat recovery units, to meet the power generation requirements of eight separate Floating Production Storage and Offloading, or FPSO, vessels. The FPSO's will operate in the petroleum rich Lula and Guará oilfields, located in the pre-salt area of the Santos Basin off the coast of Brazil, the company added.
Rolls Royce noted that the new gas turbine power generation packages will be delivered in groups of four, with the first units scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2013.
Separately, Rolls-Royce announced the expansion of its presence in Greater China with the development of a new Marine Service Centre on Hong Kong'sTsing Yi Island, which is scheduled to open in 2012.
According to the company, the new Marine Service Centre will offer specialist support services and engineering expertise to customers in Hong Kong. Besides, the new facility will provide support for a variety of vessel types, including the large number of fast ferries that are in service between Hong Kong, Macau and the Pearl River Delta, many of which are installed with Rolls-Royce propulsion systems.
