MILWAUKEE -- The Lake Express Ferry started right up Wednesday with no problems after sitting in the Menomonee Valley over the winter.
Senior Capt. Mark Crutcher couldn't wait to put the vessel in gear.
"It's time to get working again. We'll be taking the boat out of the Menomonee River and back over to its home at the Milwaukee terminal," Crutcher said.
The ship was stored near the We Energies power plant. The vessel offers service from Milwaukee to Muskegon, Mich., and back three times a day.
WISN 12 News was told the Lake Express ferry can carry up to 250 people, and the phones have been ringing off the hook already.
One reason is the road construction in the Chicago area is causing delays.
The 2006 sailing season for the Lake Express ferry starts in just over a month -- on April 29.
