KIEV, March 25 (Itar-Tass) -- Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko and Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili met in Kiev on Friday to discuss a ferry line between Kerch and Poti.
Yushchenko told a press conference after the meeting they had also discussed energy and military-technical cooperation. “We have specific plans,” Yushchenko said without adding details.
Saakashvili, a graduate of the Kiev Institute of International Relations, spoke to the press in Ukrainian. “This meeting in Kiev is not a meeting between revolutionaries, it is a meeting between leaders of the two countries that want to develop strategic partnership,” he said. “We will help each other in the integration with NATO.”
The negotiations resulted in signing of several documents, including a declaration on strategic relations, a protocol on the mutual transfer of trespassers, a program of trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation between the Odessa regional administration and the Ajarian government, a memorandum on mutual understanding between the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council and the Georgian Security Council, and an action plan for the Year of Georgia in Ukraine in 2005.
