Interest In Ferry Purchase Continues From England

As NEWS10 NBC was first to report, it appears there is significant interest in Rochester's Fast Ferry. A British ferry company said it plans to buy the ferry and run it between England and France. A report in a small newspaper in England says the ferry would be taken to Dover, England. Service across The English Channel could start early this summer. NEWS10 NBC caught up with two men at the Port of Rochester on Saturday who went to say goodbye to the ferry.
“It doesn't surprise me that someone wants to buy it because it's a beautiful ship, we were out there looking at it and it is really gorgeous. If it can't be Rochester, then it might as well be the mother country,” said Richard Esse.
“I'm hoping that the city does sell it so we can get this behind us and move forward here. With the ferry docked here, there's not much interest in it anymore,” said Mike Manioci.
Manioci said besides Richard and his friend, the port is not getting many visitors or customers these days.
