Fuel Surcharge Would Up Ferry Cost
Feb. 14 - KGO - Vallejo city officials will begin holding hearings Tuesday on a potential fuel surcharge on the Bay ferries to San Francisco.
Transportation officials say if diesel fuel prices keep rising, ferry commuters may pay 50-cents more each way starting in May. And if fuel prices keep going up after that, the city may add in another 25-cent surcharge a few months later.
The system is already running a $437,000 deficit because of rising diesel prices.
